Mike has worked with theatre as a technician for many years, most of his experience has been as a stage technician, but has also worked with light and sound and stage management.

He spent most of his teenage years working with small theatres and studied technical theatre for two years.

In 2004 Mike began working as a stage technician for Glyndebourne opera. Working on a large-scale opera during their busy summer seasons and touring to theatres around Britain.

In 2008 Mike moved to Sweden, firstly working with Spegel Teatern (The Mirror Theatre) as the Set and lighting designer for their autumn season.

He went on to work at Kungliga Dramaten (the Royal Dramatic Theatre of Sweden), Dansenhus (Stockholm’s Dance house) and Svenska Barn Program (Swedish children’s TV programs) before heading back to the UK to work at Glyndebourne again.

For the last two years Mike has been based in London, first as Deputy Head of Stage at The Lyric Hammersmith and then as Head of stage at Hampstead Theatre.

From January 2014 he will be working as freelance stage technician and production manager, specialising in carpentry, welding and rigging as well as more general crewing, fit ups and get outs.
